How to file a First Report of Injury with ease

What is a First Report of Injury?
A First Report of Injury (FROI) is the form that the employer completes and sends to Pinnacol to notify us of an injury.

Who reports a FROI?
It depends on the protocol at your organization, but it must be someone in a supervisory role. The injured worker should not file the FROI.

When should I report the injury?
We recommend filing the FROI within 24 hours so we can help facilitate treatment, investigation and provide timely benefits. The Division of Worker’s Compensation requires that the employer report the injury within 10 days of being notified.

What information do I need to report a FROI?
If you can’t get a hold of all the information right away, don’t hesitate to call us to get started on the FROI. Some information is critical, but there’s also information that can be obtained after filing.
